Don’t be overwhelmed. You CAN make a difference. |
Climate change is the most important and most challenging environmental issue of the 21st century. Scientists have studied the phenomenon of global warming for years and the evidence is irrefutable—global warming is happening, it is related to human-based activities, and it will gravely impact our economy and environment.
Climate change is a colossal issue that affects everyone. Often it seems that climate change is so complicated to understand, especially when we are easily overwhelmed by charts, graphs, statistics and unsubstantiated dissenting opinions. It helps to understand global warming from a basic level.
We have compiled a list of excellent resources to help you delve into global warming and climate change from a beginner to expert level. What is most important to remember is that you can make a difference.
Scientists have determined that we can slow down or reverse the global warming process that humans have set in motion. Luckily, it doesn’t require a miracle or complicated technology that has yet to be invented. We can reduce carbon dioxide emissions now by implementing currently available tools and technology, such as energy conservation and efficiency, solar panels, wind farms, and hybrid and electric cars. We can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by making smart choices as consumers—by choosing companies that prioritize sustainability. This requires convincing our government and business community to remove the roadblocks to widespread green energy and sustainable practices.
Our greatest challenge, and one of the purposes of Climate Ride 2009, is to promote these solutions to our policymakers and to get them into our communities.
